We mourn the loss Hon. Justice David Amilcar Shikomera Majanja, Judge of the High Court of Kenya and Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Judiciary and JSC fraternity during this time of deep sorrow and sadness.
Justice Majanja will be remembered as a towering figure in the development of our transformative post-2010 jurisprudence and a crucial pillar in the institution-building of the JSC and the Judiciary.

I am an advocate that does not enjoy court room practice due to previous experiences but you made it easy and relaxed unknowingly for me ; I appeared for you in all the areas you served. Hon.Judge Majanja was a humble sympathetic person.I still remember how he stood by my brother prof.Abuya when we lost our mother and even during her sickness. I am a school principal and when l got a student who couldn’t pay fees,judge came through for her.He didn’t even know her!! I mourn the demise of a truly good person. May God put him on His right side as his soul rests in perfect peace forever and ever.
I had the profound privilege of knowing Judge David A. S. Majanja when I was transferred to the Kisumu Law Courts, where he was the presiding judge. From the moment I met him, he treated me as his personal confidant, and every morning, I would visit him in his chambers. Our bond grew stronger with each interaction, and his encouragement played a significant role in my pursuit of further studies. Words are not enough to express the deep grief and sadness that hovers in my heart at his passing. His wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support will forever be cherished. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.
A beautiful soul to be around to, so humble and pleasant. A true gentleman. We will miss you David. May you rest in eternal peace till we meet

RIP Maj, Sad to say fare thee well to the great Judge but such is life. DSM, you have left a rich legacy in both the bench and the bar. William Shakespeare From Mcbeth Out, out, brief candle! / Life is but a walking shadow/a poor player/that struts and frets his hour upon stage /and then it is heard no more /it is a tale told by an idiot / full of sound and fury/ signifying nothing. Shakespeare may not have have anticipated the life of Majanja when he wrote this. His stay on stage was not brief and his life dignified a lot. Whether it was a court session, an interview or a friendly chat, he left you more dignified, more hopeful, more enlightened and more charged. His life was human service personified. He is no more but his legacy lives on.
Judge Majanja was a great judge. But above all he was a great human being

Maj was a brilliant mind. He loved to read and did so widely. He loved to engage in a good debate. He was a towering figure (literally and in brilliance) in our LLM class of 2005 at the University of Pretoria, grasping new topics with ease and asking all the right questions. He kept the class active and engaging. Although you are gone too soon, the Lord knows it all. Rest well Maj till we meet again
Justice Majanja "ndarendie ndarendie". We grew up together at Hill School Eldoret. We were in the same dormitory block 3. Little did I know you were destined to make an indelible mark in the legal practice, judiciary and our country. Though you were my junior in school you became my senior and mentor. I will not forget your resourceful trainings on judiciary preparedness on election petitions and decisive land mark decisions. The cruel hand of death has plucked you from our midst. The good you have done will be a perpetual reminder of you. Go well MAJ.
