CJ launches SGBV Court Users Committee at Shanzu

Chief Justice Martha Koome presided over the launch of Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) Court Users Committee (CUCs) at Shanzu.nnThe CJ urged the CUC to support public education activities in the region to ensure more victims and survivors of SGBV, mainly women and the vulnerable in the counties of Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta access justice promptly.nn“The establishment of the CUC is intended to reinforce the effectiveness of the SGBV Court. This is crucial given the unique nature of Sexual and Gender Based Violence” Said Justice Koome.nnCourt Users Committees is a platform that brings together actors and court users in the justice sector to enhance public participation, stakeholder engagement and promote effective justice sector partnerships.nThe Shanzu SGBV CUCs will be the pioneer for the establishment of other SGBV CUCs around the country.nn nn nn
