Four new members join the Public Private Partnerships Petition Committee

Four new members joined the former Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai  to handle petitions and complaints arising from tendering processes for public private partnerships. nnThe four Mr. Mohamed Abbey Mohamed, Ms. Janice Kotut, Ms. Eunice Lumallas and Sadick Mustapha Doufa were sworn in as members of the  Public Private Partnerships Petition Committee (PPPPC) by Deputy Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Paul Maina at the Supreme Court in Nairobi. nnThey were appointed for a three-year term by Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Planning Amb. Ukur Yatani through Gazette Notice No. 1713 of 25th February 2021.nnThe Committee is established under Section 67 of the Public Private Partnerships Act, 2013, with the mandate to consider all petitions and complaints submitted by a private party during the process of tendering and entering into a project agreement under the Act.nnThe DCRJ noted that the Committee is a key player in the success of public-private partnerships which are central in the economic transformation of the country.nnFormer Attorney General Prof. Githu Muigai who had earlier taken his Oath of Office as the Chairperson of the Committee said that he was grateful for another opportunity to serve the public having retired from his previous role as the country’s Attorney General.nn“You succeeded in the nearly-impossible task of pulling me out of retirement to sit in this Committee, but I am grateful for another opportunity to serve the public through this role,” Prof Muigai said.nnHead of the Public Private Partnerships Directorate in the National Treasury Mr. Christopher Kirigua who was present during the ceremony pledged to support the Committee in the discharge of its mandate.nn nn
