KJA hosts delegation from the newly established Malawi Financial Crimes Court Division

The Kenya Judiciary Academy is hosting a delegation from the newly established Malawi Financial Crimes Court Division that is in the country to hold discussions with various institutions including the Judiciary on a specialized court that deals with financial and economic crimes to ensure more effective, efficient and expeditious disposal of financial crime matters.
The study is aimed at acquiring knowledge and insights, and to generally draw from the experiences of other courts in Africa in coming up with best practices, rules and regulations for the effective and efficient functioning of the newly established division.
The team is led by High Court Judge in-charge of the Financial Crimes Court division, Justice Prof. Redson Kapindu. He is accompanied by Justice Violet Chipao and Justice Anneline Kathambi as well as High Court Assistant Registrar Joan Kwatiwani Nyirenda and Principal Court Administrator Mr. Phunziro Kwisongole.
The delegation held discussions with Court of Appeal President Justice Daniel Musinga, Professor PLO Lumumba, Law Society of Kenya Nairobi Chapter, Director of Public Prosecutions, the Economic and Anticorruption Commission, Transparency International, the Financial Reporting Center, the Asset Recovery Agency, the Ag. Principal Judge Lady Justice Njoki Mwangi, the Milimani High Court Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division headed by Lady Justice Esther Maina, the Magistrates in the Milimani Anticorruption Court and the Malawi High Commission. The tour is supported by the Judiciary of Malawi, AGA-Africa and the Irish Rule of Law International.
