Hon. Lady Justice Judy Omange Cheruiyot
Hon. Lady Justice Judith Omange holds the following academic and professional qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws from University of Nairobi
- Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
- Certificates on Judicial Administration, Case Management, Environmental Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Juvenile Delinquency Treatment.
She has a wealth of judicial and administrative experience in the legal profession. She was appointed as an Environment and Land Court Judge in 2022 and has served in Nairobi.
Previous Experience
- Registrar of the High Court, responsible for the day to day administration of the High Court.
- Deputy Registrar at the Machakos High Court.
- Magistrate, Nairobi Children’s Court for seven years.
Other responsibilities
- Oversaw the design and piloting of Court Annexed Mediation in Kenya.
- Chair of the Finance and Administration
Committee of the ADR Taskforce that has developed a three-year action plan for Court Annexed Mediation.
- Chair of the Committee that developed the simplified Court Fees Schedule 2021.
- Secretary of the leadership team that spearheaded reforms at Machakos Law Courts which served as a model court for judicial transformation.
- Headed Nairobi Children’s Court which is the inaugural children’s court and oversaw implementation of the Children Act, then a new legislation at the court.
- Secretary of the Kenya Women Judges Association for a period of three years.
