Tribute to the late Hon Justice Daniel Ogembo Ogola

On behalf of the Judiciary and the Judicial Service Commission, it is with profound sadness that I announce the sudden passing of Hon. Justice Daniel Ogembo Ogola, Judge of the High Court of Kenya.

Justice Ogembo joined the Judiciary as a Magistrate in 2004 and was subsequently appointed Judge of the High Court in 2016. At the time of his passing, he was the Presiding Judge at the Siaya Law Courts.

We received the news as we were paying our final respects to Hon. Justice Majanja at the Friends International Centre, Ngong Road. The untimely passing of Hon. Justice Ogembo comes at a trying time for the Judiciary, Judicial Service Commission and the Nation at large.

This is a deep blow to the Judiciary family, the legal fraternity and our country. We are all devastated.

Hon. Justice Martha K. Koome, EGH
Chief Justice and Chairperson of the Judicial
Service Commission

Tributes Shared

May judges soul rest in peace.

You were such a good person, an inspiration to many through your hard work, your presence will be highly missed. May you rest in peace sir. Till we meet again

rest well judge Daniel.

RIEP Judge... May our good Lord comfort the family and give them strength during this hard time🙏🙏

Today PJ will is no more. He has lived well. He will rest from his earthly labors till Christ returns. It was such a sombre sight. I shed tears for the good judge. Death is such a sad and lonely affair that it has to be borne by the deceased alone, no matter how kith and kin loved the late. Jesus himself mourned his friend Lazarus. He mourned because he saw the grief and great anguish his family had. Family is always deeply affected. We condole with you and wish you comfort and hope beyond the grave! Ogembo has straddled the legal profession like a colossus that he was. He has made his mark in the jurisprudence. He has served his country very well in various positions. Plato looking at the body of his teacher, Socrates, described him as the most wise, the most just and the most intelligent. Those words ring true for the good judge. May Mother Earth cover him well. So long Judge. Your file is closed.

When I was first employed as a resident magistrate in 2007,I was posted at malindi law courts. That is when I met you then as a senior resident magistrate You gave me the best induction one could ever dream of. Rip judge

Judge May you rest well with Angles

Back in 1984 while I was in Form 6 at Rapogi High, one form 3 student caught my attention. A polite, sharp, sensible boy you were. After leaving the High School, we later met in Nairobi in 1994 and I still saw a gentleman full of wisdom. From then on we met severally both in Nairobi and Migori. Only God knows why you have gone this early. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Rest well Judge

As a PJ, your cool demeanor in handling matters explains the character and the leadership you brought to Siayan’s. It is just a year after taking over from your predecessor. May the Almighty God rest your soul in eternal peace.

Your passing is totally unbelievable. A gentleman. Humble. Patient. Rest in peace dear brother.
