CRJ visits Kiambu Law Courts to evaluate service delivery

Hon Winfridah Mokaya, the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, visited Kiambu Law Courts to evaluate service delivery gaps and explore targeted administrative interventions.

The court leadership led by Hon. Justice Dorah Chepkwony and Hon Zipporah Gichana outlined key operational challenges, including acute office-space limitations, high caseloads, security vulnerabilities, and broader resource constraints. The most urgent needs identified were the expansion of physical space and strengthening security infrastructure.

The Chief Registrar accompanied by Deputy Director, Department of Construction and Maintenance Works, Director, Accounts, Director, Supply Chain Management and other management officials, inspected the ongoing expansion works, which will add nine new courtrooms and nine chambers. Once completed, the project will address current space deficits, enhance security for staff and court users, and create capacity to deploy additional judicial officers—critical for reducing the existing case backlog. The expansion is expected to materially improve access to justice in Kiambu County. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2027.
