Hon. Winfridah Boyani Mokaya

Hon. Winfridah Boyani Mokaya is the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 27 years’ experience in the legal profession.

Prior to her appointment as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Hon Mokaya served as the first Registrar of the Judicial Service Commission since 2011.

She joined the Judiciary in 1997 as a District Magistrate II (Professional), rising through the ranks to a Senior Principal Magistrate prior to her appointment as the Registrar – JSC in 2011.

Hon Mokaya holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is also a Certified Public Secretary.

She has attended various trainings including Strategic Leadership, Board and Executive Management; Modern administration; Corporate governance; Public Finance; Tax Administration; Human Rights; Child Rights; Legal Aid; Discrimination, Violence, Property Rights and Human Trafficking; International Law and Refugee Protection; Environmental Crime; Drug and Substance Abuse Reduction; Judicial Integrity, Accountability and Rectitude; Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes; and Promotion and Protection of Judicial Independence in Eastern Africa.

She is a member of the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA), the Kenya Chapter of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ-Kenya), the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries (ICPSK) and the East African Magistrates and Judges Association (EAMJA).
