Judiciary to deliver timely, affordable, and accessible justice for ordinary Kenyans

The Judiciary has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering timely, affordable, and accessible justice for ordinary Kenyans, as it moves to address emerging challenges affecting the Small Claims Court, including rising case volumes and delays in the resolution of disputes.

Chief Justice Martha Koome said measures under consideration include additional magistrates, designation of case managers, engagement with the National Assembly and Treasury for additional funding to engage Adjudicators, establishment of a special division to handle cases of road traffic accidents within 60 days, streamlining the appellate mechanisms of civil claims in the Magistracy and the High Court, collaboration with the Law Society of Kenya to ensure Advocates support mechanisms to enhance efficiency in the Small Claims Courts, among other far-reaching resolutions.
