Hon. Lady Justice Agnes Murgor

Justice Agnes Kalekye Murgor was appointed a judge of the Court of Appeal, in December 2012, and is currently stationed at Supreme Court Building Nairobi. She holds a Masters degree in International Business Law from the University of London, a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Buckingham, and a Diploma of Laws from the Kenya School of Law.

Lady Justice Murgor was admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 1987, and began her career at Hamilton Harrison and Mathews Advocates as a legal Assistant. Thereafter, she served as a State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers in the Treaties and Agreements Department between 1988 and 1992.

She practiced as a partner at Murgor & Murgor Advocates legal firm, specializing in corporate and commercial business transactions between 1992 and 2007. She later joined the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) as Legal Counsel / Group Company Secretary, responsible for EABL and its 10 subsidiary companies covering six countries within the East African region.

Her duties included providing oversight and supervision in legal and regulatory matters in all aspects of the business, including governance, audit and compliance.

In addition to her judicial role, the Chief Justice David Maraga appointed her to serve as chairperson of the Performance Management and Measurement Steering Committee (PMMSC), whose mandate includes inter alia, institutionalizing performance management in the Judiciary for the enhancement of performance and productivity.

Performance Management and Measurement was launched in the Judiciary on April 15, 2015, which paved way for the introduction of the performance management system as a tool for measuring the

performance of courts, registries and directorates, countrywide.

She is a Member of the Executive Committee of the Kenya Women Judges’ Association, (KWJA).
