Hon Mr. Justice Mugo David Mwangi was born in Nyeri

County.

He holds the following academic and professional qualifications:

• Bachelor of Laws degree from University of Nairobi
• Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
• Certified Secretary and a member of the Institute of

Certified Secretaries of Kenya

• Admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 2000

He has over 22 years experience in the legal profession.

He was appointed as an Environment and Land Court Judge

in 2021 and has served in Nairobi.

 

Previous Experience

• Private legal practitioner – 2000-2013
• Speaker of the County Assembly of Nyeri -2013-2017
• Legal Advisor to the Nyeri County Governor – 2017-2020

 

Other Responsibilities

• Life member of the Kenya Red Cross Society.
• Served as the Chairperson of the Nyeri County branch of the Kenya Red Cross Society (2015-2017).
• Member of various schools Boards of Management.
• Actively engaged in mentorship of students in high schools and tertiary education institutions.

 

Interests

• Avid reader of history, fiction, biographies and leadership books.
• Favourite Judge of all times is Lord Atkin of the ‘neighbour principle’.
