Hon. Mr. Justice Ongondo George M. Atunga

Hon. Mr. Justice Justice George M. A Ongondo was born in Nyamira County.

 

He holds the following academic and professional qualifications:

• Master of Public Administration, Maasai Mara University
• Bachelor of Laws from University of Nairobi
• Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
• Post Graduate in Legislative Drafting courtesy of Overseas Development Association and the Attorney General’s Chambers, Kenya.
• Certified Public Secretary (K) and a member of the

Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK)

• Admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 1995

 

He has over 28 years experience in the legal profession.

He was appointed as an Environment and Land Court Judge in 2016 and has served in Migori and Homa Bay.

 

Previous Experience

• He was appointed as a District Magistrate II (Professional) in 2000. Thereafter, he was promoted to Resident Magistrate, Senior Resident Magistrate, Principal Magistrate and Senior Principal Magistrate.

 

He served as a Magistrate in Molo and as a Magistrate and Head of Station at Bomet, Lodwar, Kapenguria, Oyugis and Kericho.

 

• The Judge was appointed as a State Counsel in 1995. He served at the Attorney General’s Chambers in Nairobi and rose from the rank of State Counsel II to State Counsel I.

He served in the Complaints Commission and Public Prosecutions Departments.
