Hon. Lady Justice Wanjiru Karanja

Hon Justice Wanjiru Karanja is the Acting President of the Court of Appeal. She replaced Justice Daniel Musinga, in an acting capacity, who completed his non-renewable term of five years on May 24, 2026.

Justice Karanja holds a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from the University of London and Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the University of Nairobi.

She is a career judicial officer who was first appointed as District Magistrate II (Prof) in March 1985. She rose through the ranks to become a Chief Magistrate in Charge of Anti- Corruption Court in 2002. She was appointed a High Court Judge in 2004 and served in various stations until her appointment to the Court of Appeal in 2012.

Lady Justice Karanja is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators London and Kenya Chapters.
