Hon. Mr. Justice Mbogo Charles Gitonga

Hon. Mr. Justice Charles Gitonga Mbogo was born in Embu County.

He holds the following academic and professional qualifications:

• Master of Laws from University of Haifa in the State of Israel
• Bachelor of Laws from University of Nairobi
• Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
• Admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 1988

 

He has over 34 years experience in the legal profession.

He was appointed as an Environment and Land Court Judge in 2016 and has served in Makueni and Narok.

 

Previous Experience

• Appointed District Magistrate (DM II) in 1988 rising through the ranks to become a Chief Magistrate in 2007.

 

Other Responsibilities

• Pioneered the establishment of Court Users Committee (CUC) in Kisii and Eldoret Law Courts in 2007 and 2009 respectively.
• Pioneered the Case tracking system installed in the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Eldoret Law Courts in 2009/2010.
• Training in Court Annexed Mediation.
• Training of police investigators in forensic investigations in conjunction with the Government Chemists and Physicians for Human Rights.

 

• Participated in the revitalization of the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) in 1995
