CRJ Mokaya joins Environment and Land Court judges during their training

Commissioner Justice Antony Mrima and Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Hon Winfridah Mokaya joined the Environment and Land Court on its second day of the training themed “Navigating the Legal and Judicial Frontiers of Carbon Offsetting in Environment and Land Adjudication.”
“Our commitment is not theoretical. We are taking tangible, demonstrable steps embracing paperless court systems, institutionalising e-filing, supporting the national tree-growing campaign, and incorporating green building standards in court infrastructure development,” the CRJ said.
She added: “These are not simply administrative innovations they are a declaration of intent: that the Judiciary shall not only adjudicate environmental matters but also model environmental sustainability through its institutional conduct.”
Judge Mrima assured the Judges that the Commission is keen to ensure that the conditions of service are improved such as development of a transport policy, provision of necessary support staff among other issues.
He reiterated that the Judicial Service Commission is committed to fulfil its mandate to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary.
“The Commission will not relent to safeguard institutional and judicial independence,” Justice Mrima said.
