PJ ERLC launches Employment and Labour Relations Court Sub-Registry in Narok.

Principal Judge of the Employment and Labour Relations Court (ELRC), Justice Monica Mbaru, has officially launched the Employment and Labour Relations Court Sub-Registry in Narok.

The new sub-registry is expected to serve residents of Narok County and neighbouring regions, who previously had to travel to Nakuru to file employment and labour-related cases.

Speaking during the launch, Justice Mbaru reaffirmed the Court’s commitment to effective and efficient service delivery, the promotion of integrity, and the realization of the Judiciary’s blueprint of Social Transformation through Access to Justice. She noted that the establishment of the Narok Sub-Registry marks a significant step towards ensuring that justice is accessible, timely, and responsive to the needs of all court users.

“The establishment of the Narok Sub-Registry is aimed at enhancing access to justice by bringing court services closer to the people. In the interim, an Employment and Labour Relations Court judge will hear cases at the Narok Law Courts on a circuit basis, thus reducing the need for litigants to travel long distances to seek judicial services,” said Justice Mbaru.

The Principal Judge encouraged litigants and stakeholders to file and process matters through the Narok Sub-Registry, including cases that would otherwise be filed in Kericho, Kisii, or Nakuru. She observed that operationalizing the Sub-Registry will further enhance access to justice for the people of Narok and the surrounding areas.

The initiative is expected to improve efficiency in the handling of employment and labour disputes and ease access to court services across the region.

Justice Mbaru was accompanied by Lady Justice Anna Mwaure, Judge of the ELRC at Nakuru, Justice Charles Kariuki, Presiding Judge Narok High Court and the Acting Registrar of the ELRC, Hon. Fredrick Nyamora. The Narok Sub-Registry will be under the administrative supervision of the Employment and Labour Relations Court, Nakuru Station.
