Hon. Mr. Justice Stephen Murigi Kibunja

Hon. Mr. Justice Stephen Murigi Kibunja was born in Muranga County.

 

He holds the following academic and professional qualifications:

• Bachelor of Laws from University of Nairobi
• Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
• Certificate in Court Administration from Koica, South Korea
• Admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 1988

He has over 34 years experience in the legal profession.

He was appointed as an Environment and Land Court Judge in 2012 and has served in Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu and Busia

 

 

Previous Experience

• Chief Court Administrator, Judiciary (2008-2012)
• Appointed as a District Magistrate II (Professional) in 1989 and served in Embu, Runyenjes, Nanyuki, Machakos, Kakamega, Garissa, Meru and Kiambu rising through the ranks to Chief Magistrate
• Appointed as State Counsel (II) in 1988

• Chair, Secretary and member to several Judiciary Committees between 2008 and 2012
