The Judiciary holds its Annual Sports Day – May 26 and 27, 2017

Chief Justice David Maraga today presided over the official opening ceremony of the Judiciary Annual Sports Day held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS), Nairobi. The two-day event that ends on Saturday was graced by World Marathon holder, Eliud Kipchoge. Teams from 15 regions across all court stations are participating in different outdoor and indoor games. The CJ said Judiciary must begin to think in terms of producing athletes who can compete on the international stage adding that the Judiciary Sports Day is a potentially good nursery for the nurturing of such talents. HIGHLIGHT OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE BLUEPRINTS

Chief Justice David Maraga launched his Strategic Blueprint on January 25th 2017, titled Sustaining Judiciary Transformation: A New Service Delivery Agenda. Training on electoral dispute resolution enhanced

The training of Judges and judicial officers on election dispute resolution has been going on in all regions in Kenya with the aim of equipping them with more sufficient knowledge on the matter, in readiness for the 2017 election disputes. It is expected that the trainings will help the judicial officers and staff adjudicate election contests in a most expeditious, effective and impartial manner. JUDICIARY ANNUAL SPORTS DAY SCHEDULED FOR MAY

The annual Judiciary Sports Day will be held from 25th to 28th May in Nairobi. The Judiciary Training Institute (JTI) has already formed a technical committee which comprises staff members from different offices and directorates within the Judiciary to begin the preparations for the event. Hon. Justice Boaz Olao chairs the larger organising committee of the Sports Day. Chief Justice David Maraga met the International Trademark Association (INTA) team led by CEO Mr. Etienne Sanz de Acedo at the Supreme Court in Nairobi. The CEO was accompanied by INTA’s representative, Africa and the Middle East, Tat-Tienne Louembe, and representatives of the Law firm of Coulson and Harney (Bowmans), Mr. Evans Monari and Ms. Terry Mwango.nnMeanwhile Judges of the Commercial and Tax Division also held a meeting with INTA delegation at Milimani Law Courts. CRJ Amadi swears in new KRA board members

Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi on Monday June 4, swore in members of Kenya Revenue Authority  Board of Directors at the Supreme Court Building.nnThose who were sworn in include: Chairperson Amb. JTI PRIORITY NOW ON EDR TRAINING

Since the beginning of the year, the JTI has been a hive of activity, concentrating on Election Dispute Resolution training, in partnership with the Judiciary Committee on Elections. This follows a directive by the Honourable Chief Justice, David Maraga, to scale down on other trainings and prioritise EDR training. And although the priority has been on EDR training, other specifically approved trainings include the Magistrates Colloquium, the Judges Colloquium, the Kenya Women Judges Association International Conference and the Judiciary Sports Day.
