Mediation registry launched in Kisumu

The Judiciary has set up a Court Annexed Mediation(CAM) Registry in the Kisumu Law Court to handle mediation cases. nnSpeaking when she officially launched the CAM registry, the Principal Judge, Lady Justice Lydia Achode said that Mediation was one of the mechanisms the Judiciary had adapted to clear case backlog.nnThe mediation project which has been operation in the Family and Commercial Division in Nairobi since May 2016 is now being rolled out to ten Counties where modalities have already been set up to establish CAM in the regional courts.nnDuring this roll-out period a team tasked to implement mediation in the...

NCCJR retreats to plan completion of criminal law reforms

Mediation to reduce case backlog in Kisii

The Court Annexed Mediation, an alternative dispute resolution process, has now been rolled out in Kisii County to handle civil cases.n nCases that relate to family, commercial, land, labour and children matters will now be handled through the process that operates under the formal court where parties resolve their disputes with the assistance of a mediator.n nOver the last two weeks, the Judiciary has so far rolled out similar courts (Court Annexed Mediation) in Nyeri and Kakamega Counties.
